Summary

Dr. Ron Li reported on his meetings at the NOAA Office of Coast Survey.

Vasilia Velissariou reported on the water surfaces she is generating. She completed average water surfaces for the years 1999-2001.

Xutong Niu reported on the data integration assignment. He has started looking through the differences between the gauge-station water levels and the numerically generated water surfaces. Dr. Li suggested the following techniques be used in analyzing the water data:

Tarig Ali made a presentation on his progress in analyzing the Painesville area data (see Appendix B ). Tarig is analyzing the LIDAR DEM profiles in Painesville to predict future shorelines in Painesville.

Kevin reported on the gauge-station water level data (see Appendix A). He computed mean water surfaces using the 15 gauge stations around Lake Erie. Four surfaces are computed to represent the MLLW, MHW, and MLW surfaces for the period 1999-2001.

Ruijin Ma reported on the Tampa Bay data set. The purchase order is ready for the Florida Department of Transportation and will be sent. He is investigating the aerial photos available at NAPP for Tampa Bay. He reported on the assessment of the 3-D IKONOS shoreline. The outlier elevations are either due to mismatches or trees on the shoreline. He started a manual filtering process for the outliners.

Xian Xu reported that in the last two weeks, he decided to develop a new system using ArcObjects. He started familiarizing himself with ArcObjects. The system is now able to connect to ArcSDE server and ArcIMS, as well as accessing some other local ESRI files. These functionalities are provided by ArcObjects.
