Summary
Vasilia Velissariou reported that she is working on analyzing the differences between the water surfaces computed from the GLFS model and the satellite altimetry data. She presented some graphs to show the comparison between both data. She compared the GLFS results with the satellite altimetry observations that include the effect of IB correction. She also compared the GLFS results with the satellite altimetry observations that don't include the effect of the IB. Vasilia Velissariou and Dr. Keith Bedford mentioned that some extra analysis are needed to analyze the GLFS results.
Chung-Yen Kuo reported that he transferred the 10- and 20-year MW surfaces in Lake Erie (using all gauge stations) to NAVD88 (Appendix A and Appendix B). He also reported that he transferred the means of the altimetry bins in Tampa Bay using the ERS-2 satellite to NAVD88 (Appendix C) . He reported that only one gauge station (St. Petersburg) has long-term water-level data. The 1983-2002 MW level at this station is -0.1374m and the 1993-2002 MW level is -0.1341m.
Ahmed Elaksher reported that he started working on the FDOT aerial photos. He has finished the interior orientation for all images. The average RMSE for all images is about 0.5pixel.
Xian Xu reported that he has finished a program do compute an average water level for any gauge station from the online NOAA's gauge station water levels. As a component, user specify a start date and an end date, the component will formulate query properly, download resulting web page and parse the resulting web page. User will be able to get the average water level plus the start date/end date of the actual data used. He has also made some changes to the naming of the downloaded files in his stand alone system. Initially he encode using the URL string. However, URL can get pretty long and Windows impose some 255 characters limit for file names. He is switching the naming scheme to a dictionary based approach. File names are now randomly generated and the mapping between URL and file names is stored in database.
Great
Lakes Forecasting System Laboratory
¡ Comparing the results of the altimetry data and the GLFS water surface model.
¡ Analyzing the GLFS water surface model in Lake Erie.
Laboratory
for Space Geodesy & Remote Sensing
¡ Providing 10- and 20- water surfaces in Lake Erie using the gauge stations and provide the differences between these water surfaces.
SUNY
at Buffalo:
¡ Xian Xu will complete working on creating a browser in ArcCatalog interface to integrate his program with ArcCatalog.
¡ Xian Xu will complete working on modifying Ruijin's software so that it will be able to download DEM remotely from the USGS web page and also download water levels from NOAA's web page.
§ Future Meetings:
o The next RAs only meeting will be held Thursday, August 7, 2003.
o The next co-PI's and RAs meeting will be held Thursday, August 21, 2003.
