Digital Government Project Meeting Summary
November 13, 2003
11:30 am in 230 Bolz Hall
RAs Only
Appendix A | Future Meetings

Attendees:

OSU Mapping & GIS Lab: Dr. Ron Li (PI), Xutong Niu
OSU Geodesy Lab: Chung-yen Kuo
SUNY at Buffalo: Xian Xu (reported by E-mail)

Absentees:

Great Lakes Forecasting System Laboratory: Vasilia Velissariou
OSU Center for Mapping: Alok Srivastava
Summary:

In this meeting, Xutong summarized the progress of the project (Appendix A):

1.       Site: Lake Erie

Data. Most the data have been collected and processed. Two kinds of data are left. One is 10 – 19 year water surface generation. The other is Lidar Survey along the Sandusky shore. SRTM data datum conversion needs to be finished.

Data Comparison. Comparison between altimetry and water surface model along two short tracks should be finished soon. Then the absolution comparison between altimetry and the water surface model should be finished (comparing three-year average only at the spot of altimetry data).

 Systems.
  1. The web-based ODNR system is being developed by Xian Xu and Xutong Niu. 2D and 3D is under development. It will be ready for testing before Thanksgiving.
  2. 3D visualization system: top-view and side-view profile should be added into the system.
  3. Erosion Awareness System. The query for influenced parcels is being added into the system based on ArcIMS. This system should be refined for publication.
Tide-Coordinated Shoreline Model. More work should be added into the model development.

2.       Site: Tampa Bay
Only data issues were discussed for Tampa Bay site.
    1.  Altimetry data: The Geodesy Lab will look in their archives to manually select useful Tampa Bay altimetry data, including ERS and new T/P. However, no tide correction information is available for the area inside Tampa Bay.
    2. Water gage data: ready.
    3. Water surface modeling: No one is doing this right now.
    4. DEM: USGS DEM is ready. DEM from aerial photos and QuickBird data need to be extracted. SRTM DEM is available and Chung-yen will do the datum conversion.
    5. Shorelines: 3D shorelines from aerial photos and QuickBird data need to be extracted.
    6. Orthophotos: USGS DOQQ is ready. Orthophotos from aerial photos and QuickBird data need to be extracted.
